About Us

We want to make money easy for you. We're not-for-profit and member owned, so you get better rates and fewer fees.

Mission Statement

Lakeview's mission is to improve the financial strength and prosperity of our members and our community by:
  • Sharing our profits in the form of reduced fees and higher returns
  • Educating our members on their best financial options
  • Ensuring the financial strength of our credit union
  • Delivering the best financial services

Our History

It all started at a picnic table in 1934. George  B. Laux, Earl LeMoine, Evan W. Jones, Frank A. Lickert, Louis A. Weiss, Ray Gallmeier, Robert H. Corey, Anton Suchy and Earl L. Bosch gathered, intent on getting a credit union going for the employees of Kimberly-Clark's Lakeview Mill. The credit union organizer from Madison made his presentation and, after meeting approval from the group, asked for the ten dollars needed to process the charter. Finally, Robert H. Corey pulled out the $10 he had salted away in his billfold for emergencies, and the Lakeview Credit Union could begin.

Time and hard work, as well as thrift and good management, allowed the credit union to grow. There were no full time employees--just volunteers who happened to be officers. These were the days of setting up a card table at the punch clock over Friday and Saturday noon hours with hopes of attracting deposits or someone applying for a loan. Eventually, at the insistence of the members and officers, a space to call home was found inside the mill in 1939, with a move to even larger quarters in 1951. An official location outside the mill came to be in 1968.

Since then, we've expanded twice at the Chapman site, now known as 410 N. Lake Street, and a second location was built at 110 W. Bell Street in 1989. In October 2005, we added a third location at 163 E. North Water St. in Neenah due to our merger with Valley Health Credit Union. This office closed due to inactivity in April 2008. In February 2008, we opened our newest office, located in Appleton on Oneida St. just south of Hwy 441. Through it all, we've remained committed to expanding our products and services to meet our members' needs.

It's Easy To Join

Anyone living or working in Calumet, Outagamie, Winnebago and Waupaca Counties in WI; employees and retirees of Kimberly-Clark Corp and Fox River Paper; employees of the medical services industry; and the immediate family of any current member are eligible to join. Once a member, your membership follows you wherever you work, move, or retire. Come in and join to enjoy the benefits of ownership for just $5.*

Board of Directors and Management

When you join the credit union, you "purchase" a $5 share of ownership by opening your savings account. This share gives you the right to vote at the annual meeting, allowing you to choose who represents you on the board of directors. It means you have a say in how your credit union operates.

Our board is currently made up of 11 Lakeview members who have volunteered to serve. They in turn choose the management staff who oversee the day-to-day operations of the credit union.

*The purchase of a share in the credit union is $5.  A balance of $25 or more in a regular share account is required to avoid a monthly minimum balance fee.
